The 8 Sacred Clauses of Khejri Ke Balaji

“If a tree is saved at the cost of one’s head, it is a bargain.” — Amrita Devi Bishnoi & the 363 martyrs of Khejarli, 1730 CE

This charter is the soul of the movement — an active code of honor, not passive rules.

Garbage as Adharma

Littering and dumping plastic is not merely a civic offense — it is adharma, a direct insult to Pavanputra. No offering to Balaji is acceptable while filth surrounds the devotee.

The Khejri Covenant

Every devotee plants at least one native tree per year — Khejri, Neem, Peepal, Banyan, or Jamun — and tends it like their own child for as long as it lives.

Sacred Purity of Offerings

Single-use plastic, thermocol, and chemical colors are entirely forbidden at every event. Prasad is served only in leaf plates, clay cups, and cotton or jute bags.

The Hanuman Seva Corps

Every devotee is a karma-yogi: at least one hour every Tuesday or Saturday cleaning public places, ponds, cremation grounds, and temple paths with their own hands.

Reverence for the Elements

Purifying the five elements is the true worship of Balaji. Rivers, stepwells, and village ponds shall not remain fouled; dumping waste into water bodies is a grave sin.

Compassion for All Life

Every center must provide water bowls (parinde) for birds, fodder for cattle, and care for stray and wild creatures. One who cannot ease the suffering of voiceless beings cannot receive Balaji’s grace.

Non-Commercial Sanctity

The movement shall never serve personal, institutional, or commercial profit. No VIP darshan, no fees — only labor and nature-seva bring one closer to Balaji.

The Living Flame

The idea travels village to village, home to home — through social media, digital tools, the mobile app, and local gatherings — so coming generations may breathe clean air.

The Pledge

O Pavanputra! We are witnesses to the immortal sacrifice of the Khejri. We vow not to rest until our land is clean, green, and sacred again.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is Khejri Ke Balaji?
Khejri Ke Balaji (खेजड़ी के बालाजी) is a non-commercial national ecological-devotional movement from India that turns devotion to Pavanputra Hanuman Ji into environmental action: eliminating litter and single-use plastic, planting native trees, and cleaning public spaces as worship (seva).
What happened at Khejarli in 1730?
In 1730 CE, Amrita Devi Bishnoi and 363 Bishnoi villagers in Rajasthan gave their lives protecting Khejri trees from being felled, declaring "Sar saante rūnkh rahe, to bhee sasto jān" — if a tree is saved at the cost of one’s head, it is a bargain. Their sacrifice is the movement’s founding inspiration.
Is there any fee or VIP access?
No. The movement is strictly non-commercial: no fees, no VIP darshan, no corporate sponsorship. Labor and nature-seva are the only currency (Clause 7).
How do I join the movement?
Take the free digital pledge at khejrikebalaji.org: vow to never litter, give up single-use plastic, plant and protect at least one native tree this year, and receive your digital Seva Pass.
Which trees does the movement plant?
Native Indian species only: Khejri (Prosopis cineraria), Neem, Peepal, Banyan, and Jamun — each devotee plants and protects at least one per year (Clause 2).
